Title V of the Older Americans Act provides programs to help individuals age 55
and older, to locate employment, increase incomes, and acquire new skills. The Senior
Community Service Employment Program may be of assistance to individuals who are:
- Age 55 years or older
- Living in a household with a combined income of no more than 25% over the federal
poverty level
- Are out of work or having trouble finding a suitable job.
The following are examples of services available to Title V SCSE Program participants:
- Pre-employment and on-the-job training;
- Professional help identifying personal strengths that could be used in a new job;
- Job Placement assistance;
- Annual physical examination;
- Consumer information about Social Security, taxes, personal health, and more;
- Compassionate help during difficult transitions, such as recovering from an illness
or losing a spouse;
- Renewed self-confidence that comes from doing a job well.
